Say hello to Spectrum Circle Filter Paper — our new circle filter paper for press-style brewing, and one of the most rigorously tested filters we've ever put our name on.

Most filters get treated as an afterthought. We built Spectrum to be the opposite: a paper built with feedback from the industry professionals who use it every day.

Spectrum uses a multi-layer fibre structure designed to promote even water flow through the bed, reduce clogging, and minimise fines passing into the cup. The result is a cleaner, more balanced extraction

Before we put our name to anything, we run it past the people who'll actually be using it. Industry leaders, working baristas, café and roastery owners, all tested against multiple coffees and processing styles, side by side with what's already out there. Here's what came back consistently across washed, natural, anaerobic, and honey-processed coffees:

-          Clean, defined cups. Very little sediment carryover, with clarity that holds up even on naturally processed coffees, which are usually a bit harder to keep clean.

-          Body without heaviness. Testers described the mouthfeel as syrupy but not thick — a texture that other high-clarity papers we tested tended to strip away.

-          Standout aromatics. This was the single biggest piece of feedback across the board. Florals and fermentation-driven notes came through especially strongly, where a lower-permeability paper tended to mute them.

-          No perceptible paper taste, even without pre-wetting. One less step for a barista mid-service.

Compared against a standard press-style paper and an ultra-high-clarity boutique option, Spectrum landed as the most complete all-rounder: cleaner than the everyday standard, more textured and sweeter than the ultra-clarity option, and consistently strong across every processing style tested.
